AVENGERS ASSEMBLE
Hey guys Jordan here, it has been a minute but I am back to bring you something I have been working on for a few months now. In the spirit of my love of crossovers and the exciting new possibilities with Universes Beyond I decided to make a commander deck based on Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame. I went a little deeper and tried to make every card a reference to something from the movie.
The deck is not by any means good. It is fun, don't get me wrong. Building the deck reminded me of building a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck when I was a kid. Putting cards in because they looked cool or were fun, or just fit with the theme so well. I spent hours digging through Scryfall to find cards that truly matched the person or place I was trying to represent.
So, the rules I set for myself were simple. I had to Include all the main avengers, the black order, the stones and the gauntlet. What I ended up with was an ability to tell the entire story of the movies in a 100 card deck.
Let us start with the commander.
No wait, that’s not right …
Much better.
I made this nice Proxy of Thanos to set the stage for the movie. Credit for the art goes to theknott14.
I chose Kenrith for multiple reasons. He is the RETURNED king and Thanos returns in Endgame. He has multiple activated abilities which can represent the different powers of the Infinity Stones, and… well let's be honest the deck wouldn't work if it wasn’t 5 colors. Let us start with a breakdown of the core cards that really tell the story of the end of Phase three.

I have had a lot of fun playing this deck. I took it to Magic Fest Las Vegas and got to play a few games with it. Everyone I played really enjoyed it and a few people were inspired to create their own theme deck. This is one of the many reasons I love the game of Magic the Gathering, there are so many different ways to build and play the game.
Having played more card games than I can count, Magic is the best by far in my opinion. They clearly take care in the thought process behind their sets. Personally, I would love a Marvel or DC product to be released in the Universes Beyond Product line. I have introduced many new customers in the store to Magic with the crossovers like Godzilla, The Walking Dead, and Street Fighter. Just the idea that someone who is not really into high fantasy worlds like Magic or the Forgotten Realms can find a set of cards that appeals to them and we can both sit down and play a great game.
Alright guys that is all for now. Until next time, take it easy.
